Cia Marshall
Cia Marshall 68th President of the Maryland Jaycees
Cia joined the Greater Elkton Jaycees in 1996. She quickly became involved and chaired her first project, the Supermarket Dash! The project was a huge success that got some great PR for our chapter. The Dash was even featured on the Baltimore news!
Cia has held many leadership positions on the local level (some of them more than once) including Local Director, Treasurer, Community Development Vice President, State Director, 39th President of the Greater Elkton Jaycees, Chairman of the Board and Advisor. The Jaycees have always been a family affair for the Marshalls . Eric and the children were involved with and participated in most of the projects put on by the Greater Elkton Jaycees/ Jaycees of Cecil County since 1996! It took Eric a little bit longer to become a Jaycee, but once he did, he jumped in with both feet!
Cia has held several positions on the State level including Business Networking Program Manager, Fleet of the Chesapeake Program Manager, North-Central District Director, Executive Vice President and 68th President of the Maryland Jaycees.
Cia was mentored early on in her Jaycee career by several more experienced Jaycees including Annamarie Love, Laura Jones, and Al Love. It was their guidance, leadership, friendship and teachings that propelled Cia through her Jaycee career. Our chapter has always been a “family friendly” chapter. Encouraging people to bring their children to meetings and activities.
It was a surprise when Cia was encouraged by her mentors to run for Local Chapter President in 2001. She didn’t feel ready. There was so much more to learn. However, knowing that others have such a strong belief in you to do a job quickly motivates you to live up to that belief and expectation.
Cia was lucky enough to attend the Local President’s Summit in 2001 at USJC Headquarters in Tulsa Oklahoma . During that training many doors were opened and possiblilites were imagined. In 2001,The Greater Elkton Jaycees made the state of Maryland stand up and take notice of all the awesome things that were going on in our part of the state. The Greater Elkton Jaycees won several awards throughout the year. Our chapter came in 4th in the Parade of Chapters! We forged lasting friendships with chapters all over the state and reconnected with the State Executive Board.
It was during Cia’s year as Local Chapter President that Annamarie and Laura shared their belief that Cia could become a President of the Maryland Jaycees! This was hard to imagine since we come from a small chapter on the outskirts of the state. We had never had a President of the Maryland Jaycees from our home chapter. That goal was a tough one to believe. As mentors tend to do, they continued to shape, guide, encourage and constructively criticize. It is a result of these very special mentor’s vision and persistence that allowed this dream to come true! Thank you for helping me become the President of the Maryland Jaycees! It is a huge accomplishment for our chapter as well.
Nothing is achieved without hard work. There have been ups and downs in every Jaycee career and every Jaycee chapter. It is the difficult times that make you realize how many obstacles you can overcome. It is the successful times that let you enjoy the hard work that you have put into this organization.
This organization has allowed me make lifelong friends who have become my family. I have had amazing experiences that I would not have otherwise had. I am thankful to all Jaycees who have come before me and have made it possible to join such an outstanding organization. I relish the ability to offer these outstanding experiences to young people everywhere.
One of the best things you can do for yourself and your community is to become involved with the Greatest young person’s organization, The Jaycees! Contact your local or state Jaycee chapter and start Celebrating the Positive Impact we have on our communities and the world!

Newsflash
We believe...
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life
